Status

The Kentucky Bar Association Ethics Committee released an official advisory opinion (E-403) (July 1998) authorizing unencrypted email communications and a characterizing web pages as advertising, rather than solicitation. Note: the appendix is a copy of ISBA Opinion No. 96-10 and is much longer than the opinion itself.

The University of Kentucky College of Law Library in conjunction with the Kentucky Bar Association now offers ethics opinions. According to the Bar's Web Page Set, advertisements should be submitted to the Attorneys Advertising Commission. It is our understanding that the Commission currently requires a statement on every page stating "This is an advertisement." We recommend that you contact the State Bar for further information.
